Thousands of demonstrators at a demonstration in Belgrade accused the Serbian government of President Aleksandar Vucic of electoral fraud in the vote two weeks ago. At the rally in Belgrade, opposition politician Marinika Tepic demanded that the election be repeated. Opposition politician Radomir Lazovic called on the international community to put pressure on Vucic so that new elections could be free and fair.

The largest demonstration to date against the Serbian election results took place in Belgrade.

There were no reports of violence. Dozens of people were injured during protests on Christmas Eve. According to preliminary results, the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) won 46.7 percent of the vote, while the opposition Alliance Serbia Against Violence received 23.6 percent.

The opposition alliance speaks of fraud and is particularly calling for the local elections in Belgrade to be repeated. Observers have said that people from other parts of Serbia and neighboring countries were registered as voters in Belgrade and bussed there to vote. Vucic rejects this as fabricated and accuses the opposition of wanting to overthrow the government on instructions from abroad.

Tepic has been on hunger strike since the election. During her appearance she appeared weakened and admitted that she was too weak to give a long speech. She was expected to be hospitalized afterwards.
