The sun is rare, it remains gray in Germany. In some places, violent storms are sweeping across the country.

A decent breeze up to squalls and a lot of rain brought the double low “Egbert I” and “Egbert II” to the people in Germany up to and including Friday. The German Weather Service (DWD) announced on Thursday that it was particularly stormy in the north and west.

Heavy gusts of wind are to be expected in the mountains, and hurricane-like gusts or hurricane gusts on some peaks. According to the meteorologists, around 50 liters of rain per square meter can fall by Friday morning, especially in some congested areas of the western low mountain ranges such as the Bergisches Land.

The water levels on some rivers such as the Middle and Lower Rhine and Main, and above all on their inlets and outlets, are likely to rise significantly. The temperatures remain rather mild between 8 and 13 degrees.

According to the DWD, things will continue to be turbulent at the weekend. A new storm could shift from the British Isles towards the North Sea on Saturday evening – then it could be windy to stormy again.

Coasts and mountains are likely to be particularly affected. In addition, larger amounts of rain are expected again, which could then cause the rivers and streams to swell in the southern and especially southwestern parts of the country. The temperatures are meanwhile falling slightly – only maximum values between 6 and 11 degrees are expected on Sunday.
