The current season of “The Masked Singer” is heading for its finale. That’s why two stars had to leave the show. And then there was the mysterious note from Carolin Kebekus.

Former soccer player Rúrik Gíslason and “Tatort” commissioner Jasna Fritzi Bauer were exposed one after the other in the ProSieben costume show “The Masked Singer”.

The Icelander, disguised as a gorilla, received too few votes from the spectators in the semifinals and had to take off his mask. The same happened to the actress Bauer in a starfish costume a little later.

In his own words, Gíslason can well imagine being on stage more often as a singer later: “I definitely want to continue that.” The 34-year-old had sung the song “I Want It That Way” by the 90s boy band Backstreet Boys on the music show before his exposure, sometimes slightly short of breath.

Starfish sings Barbra Streisand

Jasna Fritzi Bauer showed remarkable singing talent. With the Barbra Streisand hit “Don’t Rain on My Parade” and the emotional ballad “Starlight” – once sung by the band Muse – the petite actress turned up the heat. Like Gíslason before the exposure, she was treated quite highly by both the jury and the audience. Comedian Carolin Kebekus, who was a guest juror in the current season, also wrote her name discreetly on a piece of paper two weeks ago, which moderator Matthias Opdenhövel only now opened to reveal it.

“I’m glad I was kicked out now and not last week,” said Bauer. “I had a lot of fun here.” However, the costume was a bit impractical. You had to put it on while lying down.

Final is coming up

In the show, stars appear as singers, but hide their true identities behind big masks. Only her voice and a few hints give an idea of who could be on stage. After all, anyone who is kicked out of the show has to identify themselves.

The sixth season of the format is currently running. Before Gíslason, the singer Joana Zimmer was last exposed as Galax’Sis. Before that, the British opera singer Paul Potts as the koala, the presenter Cherno Jobatey as the seagull and the presenter Jeannine Michaelsen as the colorful mythical creature Brilli with a true self had to reveal themselves. The finale of the costume spectacle will take place next week. Also present: the zebra, the orc, the thorny devil and the disco ball.
