Moderator Daniel Boschmann had to take off his furry mask: while his dance performances were well received, the raccoon could not convince the audience with his singing.

TV presenter Daniel Boschmann left the ProSieben music show “The Masked Singer” as a raccoon. The 42-year-old, who is mainly known from the “Sat.1 breakfast television”, received too few votes from the viewers and therefore had to take off his furry mask. “I want to thank you for taking me on the journey,” he said. “I admit: I would have liked to have stayed longer.” He previously sang “Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)” by skatepunk band The Offspring on the show.

Boschmann’s exposure at the end of the show didn’t really come as a surprise. From the prominent advice team, both Ruth Moschner and guest Rick Kavanian had already suspected the moderator was under the mask. The audience also spoke online mainly for Boschmann, while Rea Garvey guessed Joko Winterscheidt. In the cute costume with hat, tank top and suspenders, Boschmann drew attention to himself with his humor and his dance routines – he was less able to convince the celebrities vocally. “You dance better than you sing,” Garvey said after the performance.

On the other hand, there was a lot of applause again in the second show for the spider creature “Diamantula”, which powerfully belted out the Rolling Stones hit “Paint It Black”. “It’s so scary and beautiful at the same time,” Moschner commented. “Diamantula” was also promptly chosen for the next show. Viewers can be curious: In the coming weeks, the creature will continue to transform into a spider. Other masks in the running include a toast, a seahorse and a hedgehog.

In the rate show, celebrities appear as singers, but they hide their identities behind elaborate costumes. They will be revealed as soon as they don’t get enough votes or win at the very end.
