A new analysis shows that the proportion of women on Dax supervisory boards is increasing. An increase of 1.8 percent represented a record. At the top of the committees, on the other hand, the rate is significantly worse.

The proportion of women on the supervisory boards of the 40 companies in the Dax share index is increasing. At the end of this year’s annual general meeting season, the personnel consultancy Heidrick & Struggles expects a share of 38 percent among the representatives of the capital side.

That is 1.8 percentage points more than a year ago and a record. In addition to the results of the Supervisory Board elections, the evaluation was also based on the nominations that had already been made for upcoming general meetings.

For the first time since the start of the evaluation ten years ago, there is at least one woman on the majority of listed companies in Germany.

The Dax companies are moving “slowly but steadily in the right direction,” said the Germany boss of Heidrick & Struggles, Nicolas von Rosty. “This development can also be seen internationally.”

In ten of the companies there is parity between women and men on the capital side. At the top of the supervisory board, however, the ratio is significantly worse.

“One downside is that after this year’s elections, only two DAX40 supervisory boards are still held by women,” said Rosty. “In these important positions, a sign of more diversity should be set in the future.”
