Project “GreenCarbon”: Building with algae and carbon fibers – knowledge

Building houses uses huge amounts of resources and damages the climate. Carbon fibers, algae factories, recycled concrete: what the future of construction could look like.

Anyone who steps onto this balcony in the north-east of Munich is walking on thin ground. The stone slabs from which the terrace is composed like a mosaic are two to three meters long and wide, but only ten millimeters thick. With this delicate cross-section, an ordinary stone would break as soon as a few people stood on it. But these plates can withstand loads weighing tons. Luckily, because below them a slope drops steeply towards the Isar.
