Products with a yellow star removed from an online store

Spreadshirt’s online t-shirt store found itself in the midst of a controversy this week. Sweaters, caps, stickers and other clothing products, bearing a yellow star, were offered for sale on the platform. This symbol, used to stigmatize Jewish people by the Nazi regime during World War II, has been widely used for several weeks by anti-vaccines and anti-health passes to denounce their fate, which he compares to that suffered by the victims. of the Shoah.

After being questioned on Twitter by the International League against Racism and Anti-Semitism (Licra), the Spreadshirt platform withdrew all the products concerned, and apologized. “Tshirts, stickers and #Yellow star… When@spreadshirt trades in minimizing #Shoah and the Nazi symbolism via a partner shop, that gives that ”, had previously tweeted the Licra.

The seller excluded from the platform

Spreadshirt also announced that action would be taken against the seller of these items, the sign “Les Lucassiens”. The latter was excluded from the platform for non-compliance with the terms of use, and “violations of the rules of the community”. A few weeks ago, similar products had already been put on sale, especially on the Amazon platform. Questioned by a user on social networks, the online commerce giant quickly deleted the ad.
