Process in Munich: Sudden attacks at the main train station – Munich

He actually came to Germany to work here, says Dacian D. (name changed) to judge Stephan Kirchinger. Instead, the 20-year-old slipped into the drug milieu in Munich’s Bahnhofsviertel last year – with fatal consequences not only for himself, but also for several people who are said to have become victims of his spontaneous outbreaks of violence. Almost a year after the last alleged crime, the trial against Dacian D. before the Juvenile Criminal Court at the Munich I Regional Court began this Wednesday. Prosecutors have filed charges of assault, insult, exhibitionism and resisting law enforcement officers.

When Dacian D. was arrested on Königsplatz in the early morning hours of July 28, 2021, he weighed just 50 kilograms and was around 1.80 meters tall. A photo taken by the police shows him in completely soiled clothes. The months before, D. had been living on the streets. Since he had no job, he begged.

At the start of the process, the 20-year-old says that he only “started with drugs” in Munich, namely with cocaine. The drug made him aggressive. “You’re looking for fights,” he adds.

He couldn’t remember, he was probably too drunk

In mid-April last year, D. beat up another man in broad daylight on the stairway from the subway to Schillerstrasse, according to the indictment. He is said to have spat and insulted his victim beforehand. Only a few months later, three similar incidents are said to have occurred in the main station and the surrounding area. In all cases, D. is said to have hit his victims suddenly and seriously injured them. “All I did were difficulties and problems,” says D. after the indictment was read out.

The day before his arrest, he was out with a friend in the station district, reports Dacian D. He ordered a gram of cocaine for 100 euros from a friend. He got the money by begging. His acquaintance, who slept on Königsplatz at night, promised to give him the cocaine there. But the acquaintance did not show up.

That’s why he confronted his friend at 2:30 in the morning. Dacian D. is said to have hit the sleeping person with fists and kicks immediately. However, he assured the court that he stopped when he realized that he wasn’t hitting the dealer’s friend, but his wife. She then alerted the police. At the inspection, the 20-year-old is said to have undressed during the interrogation and resisted when he came into a cell. Dacian D. says in court that he can no longer remember that. He was too drunk.
