As of: 09/29/2021 3:04 p.m.

In many regions of Germany, the emergency numbers 110 and 112 were temporarily unavailable today – sometimes for up to 40 minutes. According to civil protection, the problem has now been resolved, but the cause is still unclear.

In several federal states there have been massive problems with the emergency numbers 110 and 112. According to information from Deutsche Telekom and the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief (BBK), the disruption has now been resolved. Both the fire brigade and the police emergency calls are available again, said spokesman.

The cause of the malfunction is still unclear

According to Telekom, their network was temporarily disrupted nationwide. Calls from the cellular network to the fixed network were therefore affected. Thus “some control centers” could not be reached from the cell phone for about 30 minutes. The cause of the malfunction is still unclear.

The emergency numbers in Magdeburg, Regensburg and Kassel and the surrounding districts were not reachable from the mobile network. Twitter users also reported malfunctions in Wiesbaden, Paderborn and Aachen.

Numerous warning messages

Other cities in Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate also reported disruptions. “Calls cannot be accepted. All citizens in emergency situations are asked to make further attempts to call,” said the Erding district office.

The Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance received numerous warning messages at noon, as was evident on the authority’s website.
