Austin Butler is ‘outstanding’ as Elvis

In a few weeks, the biopic “Elvis” will premiere, starring Austin Butler. That’s what Priscilla Presley thinks of.
At this year’s Cannes Film Festival (May 17-28, 2022), the biopic “Elvis” about the life of Elvis Presley (1935-1977) celebrates its world premiere. The ex-wife of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Priscilla Presley (76), has watched the film in advance and is enthusiastic. In a Facebook post she particularly emphasizes the acting performance of leading actor Austin Butler (30). “Austin Butler, who plays Elvis, is outstanding,” she writes, adding, “WOW!!! Bravo… he knew he had big shoes to fill.”
Presley also finds words of praise for director Baz Luhrmann (59). The true story is told “brilliantly and creatively” in a way “only Baz can in his unique, artistic way”.
That’s what “Elvis” is about
The drama follows how a nondescript young musician from Tupelo, Mississippi, became the king of rock ‘n’ roll. The phenomenon that, with his music and, last but not least, his swinging hips, caused both fans to cheer and moral guardians to controversy. In addition to Butler, superstar Tom Hanks (65) can also be seen in “Elvis”. He embodies music manager Tom Parker (1909-1997), Elvis’ notorious discoverer.
About a month after its world premiere, “Elvis” will also be shown regularly in cinemas. The German launch date is June 23, 2022.
Elvis and Priscilla Presley were married from 1967 to 1973. In 1968 their daughter Lisa Marie (54) was born.
