Princess Sofia does not attend Queen Silvia’s birthday concert

Queen Silvia’s birthday should be something very special. However, close family members will be missing from her birthday concert.

It will soon be a very special day for Queen Silvia (79): On December 23rd, the Heidelberg native will be 80 years old – and several celebrations are planned for this. The first event is scheduled to take place next week: on November 30th, a concert will be held in Silvia’s honor in collaboration with the Lilla Akademien music school. Almost the entire family will celebrate the Queen at the event – but Princess Sofia (38) will be missing.

Sofia of Sweden’s absence from the concert has a simple reason

Due to the Childhood Foundation board meeting, all representatives and directors will meet next week in Stockholm for a meeting that takes place once a year, according to the head of the royal court’s information department, Margareta Thorgren. At the end of the meeting, everyone gathers together at the Lilla Academy for the concert, where Silvia has also invited all the other foundations.

What makes the Queen particularly happy: Princess Madeleine (41) will come all the way from the USA to be able to take part in the event. To do this, she is flying back to Sweden for a few days so that she and her father King Carl Gustaf (77) can be with her mother.

King Silvia’s son, Prince Carl Philip (44), will appear without his wife, Princess Sofia. According to “Svensk Damtidning”, she will not attend the concert. The court justifies the princess’s absence quite simply: “She is not on the board of one of the Queen’s foundations, so it is natural that she will not be there.”

Crown Princess Victoria & Prince Daniel meet Prince William & Princess Kate

Not only Princess Sofia will be missing from the event: Princess Victoria (46) and Prince Daniel (50) have to go on an official visit to London to accept the invitation from Prince William (41) and Princess Kate (41).

Madeleine will also undertake the long journey alone and appear without her husband Chris O’Neill (49). He was unable to note the date in his diary and, according to a court spokeswoman, will stay with their children in Florida: “Princess Madeleine is traveling home alone for this board meeting. It will take place on November 29th and 30th, and after that the princess will to return to Florida.”
