At the Spanish national holiday, Princess Leonor shows off her new role as a cadet at the Zaragoza Military Academy.

Princess is full of pride Leonor from Spain (17) her new task. The heir to the Spanish throne is currently completing her basic military training. She therefore appeared alongside her parents at the military parade on Spanish National Day in Madrid on October 12th, wearing the cadet uniform of the Zaragoza Military Academy.

Felipe and Letizia of Spain: Proud parents

Her father, King Felipe, 55, also wore his traditional military uniform. On the royal tribune and during the subsequent festivities, as pictures show, he repeatedly smiled proudly and encouragingly at his daughter. Queen Letizia (51) accompanied the two at the military parade. However, she appeared less formal in a blue midi dress with a floral pattern by Juan Vidal.

Although she is only at the beginning of her military training, the heir to the Spanish throne is already fully involved in royal duties: Together with her father, Leonor inspected the troops and welcomed the members of the Spanish government present. The highlight of the parade includes, among other things, the jump of a parachutist with a large Spanish flag and the presentation of the Spanish Air Force.

Traditional oath of loyalty

At the beginning of October, Princess Leonor, who will be 18 at the end of the month, took the traditional oath to the flag. The cadets traditionally kiss the Spanish flag after swearing an oath of loyalty to the king. According to media reports, Leonor’s military training in Zaragoza follows a strict schedule. As long as there are no maneuvers, she can spend the weekends at home.

Leonor’s sister, Sofia of Spain (16), is studying at UWC Atlantic College in the Welsh county of Vale of Glamorgan. The school is often referred to as the “hippie Hogwarts” because of its progressive educational approach and picturesque castle setting.
