Princess Diana
Auction with her most famous dresses
Anyone who wants to own an evening dress that belonged to Princess Diana can bid now. Several of her outfits are going under the hammer.
The Los Angeles-based auction house “Julien’s Auctions” will show the garments in an exhibition before they are auctioned off.
Diana wore the dark blue tulle dress twice
Some of the ensembles were seen in Princess Diana’s most famous appearances, such as an off-the-shoulder tulle dress by Murray Arbeid that she wore twice in 1986: at the premiere of “Phantom of the Opera” and at a dinner for King Constantine of Greece (1940-2023 ). The estimated value is between $200,000 and $400,000. An evening dress made of silk and lace by Victor Edelstein, which Princess Diana wore during a visit to Germany in 1987, is also expected to bring in a similar amount.
Dresses are Diana’s “legacy”
“Julien’s Auctions” said about the outfits auction: “Diana may have been a princess, but her appeal was in no way inferior to that of a Hollywood star.” Even though the princess did not leave behind any films, “her legacy lives on through the exquisite dresses and accessories that continue to captivate audiences and invite them to delve deeper into her enigmatic personality.”
Diana defied the constraints of the royal institution, “both in her actions and her fashion choices, and left a timeless legacy that will transcend generations,” according to the auction announcement.
