Prince William convinces himself of the raw materials for sustainable packaging.

The royals are committed to sustainable companies – as is Prince William. He now visited an Earthshot Prize winner in London.

The British heir to the throne, Prince William, visited a manufacturer of sustainable packaging in London on Tuesday. In November 2022, the startup Notpla won the Earthshot Award in the category “Building a zero-waste world”, an environmental prize created by Prince William (40). As reported by “People” magazine, among others, wanted the son of King Charles III. (74) check on site whether receiving the award has helped the company speed up processes.

Together with two co-founders of the company, which specializes in packaging production using algae and plants, Prince William was convinced of the investments made thanks to the award. Among other things, the prize money was used to purchase machines for research and development and to enlarge the team. The heir to the throne then went to the laboratory and tried his hand at making packaging material from algae. He was then presented with a prototype of a takeaway box that is scheduled to go into mass production in June.

Earthshot Prize Award will be presented in Singapore this year

The five annual Earthshot Prize winners have been handed out one million pounds, the equivalent of around 1.2 million euros, since 2021. The third environmental award ceremony this year will take place on November 7th in Singapore. Last year, the award winners were honored in Boston in December, and at the start of 2021 they met for the gala event in William’s hometown of London.
