Prince William shared his daughter Charlotte’s favorite joke with students during a surprise visit to a high school in England.

The Royal Family is known for their typically British humor. Its members are not afraid to present it publicly. Prince William (41) has now revealed which joke his daughter Princess Charlotte (8) particularly likes to tell or hear.

On Thursday (April 25), the father of three and heir to the British throne made a surprise visit to a school in Sandwell, England. On this occasion, he was asked by the students to share a “dad joke.” “I try to model myself on Jack Whitehall because most of his jokes are quite paternal,” William said.

A “knock, knock” joke about an “interrupting cow” is currently very popular in his household – especially with daughter Charlotte, he then explained. The students then asked the question, which is quite predictable with “knock, knock” jokes, “Interrupting cow who?” (German: Who?), to which Prince William replied with a “Moo”. The royal added that it was the most decent joke he could think of.

Prince William attended school for a special reason

There was a special reason behind Prince William’s surprise visit to St Michael’s Church of England High School. In September 2023, a twelve-year-old student sent the royal a letter, which his school shared on X. In it, the student explained that he was the chairman of a student group of several boys between the ages of eleven and 14 on the topic of mental health. He asked the prince to support their campaign called “Am I Manly Enough?” (German: Am I male enough?). The twelve-year-old also extended an invitation to the Royal for World Mental Health Day.

The Prince of Wales responded at the time in a separate X post: “Hello Freddie, I’m so sorry that Catherine and I can’t be with you and the other students at St Michael’s today. It’s so important to tackle mental health issues and stigma, please keep it up. “

But the student’s letter apparently moved the prince very much. And so he took further appointments in the region as an opportunity to pay an unannounced visit to the school. In an Instagram story William shared a photo of the letter and a picture of him shaking the student’s hand. “It started with a letter…” it said. In another story, he wrote: “Great to see this inspiring mental health project in action. Well done to Freddie and his friends for the incredible lengths they go to to look after their emotional wellbeing.”
