The fact that the BBC showed a documentary about the Royals seems to have consequences. Allegedly, William and Kate punish the broadcaster.

Prince William (39) and Duchess Kate (39) have allegedly canceled a planned Christmas special on the BBC. The reason for this is said to be the controversial documentary “The Princes and the Press” that the station broadcast. The Christmas charity event reportedly hosted by Duchess Kate at Westminster Abbey could be hosted by ITV instead. Prince William should also be present at the concert.

An industry insider said according to “The Sun”: “It was all arranged for BBC1, but it was changed in the past few days because of the terrible dispute over the documentary.” The problems between the royal family and the BBC could get much bigger, the alleged source suggests. “The Princes and the Press” consists of two parts, so far only the first half has been shown. The second part of the documentary threatens to “go further”, according to the insider.

Kate’s Christmas special is supposed to be a new format. According to “The Sun,” the royals have never put on a television concert before. And to have the Duchess as your hostess is “a big deal”.

Palast rejects allegations

In the first part of “The Princes and the Press” speculations arose, among other things, according to which Prince William and his brother Prince Harry (37) are said to have used the press to make life difficult for each other. In the documentary broadcast on BBC 2, media reports say that the princes allegedly made allegations against each other to journalists.

The Royals rejected the allegations, the royal family even defended themselves against the BBC in a joint statement by Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace and Clarence House. The public broadcaster showed this at the end of the episode. It says that an independent press is important for democracy. The statement goes on: “However, all too often exaggerated and unsubstantiated claims from unnamed sources are presented as fact and it is disappointing when someone, including the BBC, gives them credibility.”

How bad is part two going to be for the royals?

The relationship between the brothers is said to have been heavily strained since Duchess Meghan (40) and Prince Harry accused the royal family of racism in an interview with Oprah Winfrey (67). In the second episode of the documentary, which will be broadcast on November 29, it will be about the past four years, from 2018 to 2021. In 2018, Prince Harry married the US actress Meghan Markle. A year later, the couple’s firstborn son, Archie, was born.In early 2020, Meghan and Harry withdrew from their royal duties, moved to California and had a daughter with Lilibet in June 2021.

In the TV interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired in early March 2021, Meghan and Harry claimed that a member of the royal family had raised “concerns” about “how dark” their son Archie’s skin would be. They did not give the name of the person. Meghan also said that she had mental health problems during her time at the palace and that she had been denied help.
