A grand memorial service was held in London’s Westminster Abbey on Tuesday in honor of the late Prince Philips. His grandson Prince Harry and his family did not appear. A former bodyguard of Prince Philip strongly criticized the absence.

Prince Philip’s ex-bodyguard, Richard Griffin, has attacked Prince Harry for his decision not to attend his late grandfather’s memorial service this week. On the Australian morning show “Sunrise,” royal expert Angela Mollard discussed the ex-bodyguard’s comments about Prince Harry’s non-appearance at the memorial service.

The service was attended by nearly 2,000 guests, but Prince Harry, who currently lives in the United States with his wife Meghan and their children, decided against attending. His absence did not go unnoticed. In particular, from a former bodyguard, Prince Philips, who has been vocal about Prince Harry’s recent royal snub. As Mollard reports, he came out of the church and is said to have said that it was “very bad behavior on the part of Prince Harry” not to appear at the ceremony honoring his grandfather.

“You have to imagine that there were so many members of the royal family and so many great-grandchildren. Even Charlotte and George were there, although they are only eight and six years old.” Mollard added it would have been “so important for the Queen to have her family all there.” The aristocrat expert even went so far as to say it was something of an “insult” to the Queen that Prince Harry didn’t appear.

Prince Harry’s security concerns are said to be a ‘pathetic excuse’

The former security officer Griffin also took a clear position on the security concerns that Prince Harry has when visiting Great Britain. The Duke of Sussex’s safety concerns are a ‘pathetic excuse’ Prince Harry is currently at odds with the UK government over his future protection when visiting the country for himself and his family. By leaving the royal family, he is no longer automatically entitled to it. He justifies his general absence from home with these security concerns.

Griffin also told Sky News: “It was a huge disappointment for everyone. All this nonsense about him not being able to get protection. He should have been here to honor his grandfather.” Richard Griffin added: “At the end of the day, if he was really that concerned about safety, he could have stayed close to his brother and father, who received wonderful protection. He would have been more than safe.”

Neither the Duke nor the Duchess of Sussex has given a statement about their absence from the funeral service.
