Little Prince Louis always draws everyone’s attention at performances by the royal family. He owes his title to the Queen.

Prince Louis (5) owes his royal title to his late great-grandmother. Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) changed a rule introduced by her grandfather, George V (1865-1936).

On the occasion of George’s birth, the Queen changed the rule

The five-year-old is fourth in line to the British throne behind his father Prince William (40) and his siblings Prince George (9) and Princess Charlotte (8). His official title is His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Wales. How the British “Mirror” reportshe only got that title because the Queen intervened.

In 1917, King George V set new guidelines for royals to hold titles. He ruled that all of the ruler’s children would automatically become a prince or princess, as well as any grandchildren born in the male line. However, great-grandchildren were not included in the list. The Queen changed this rule when Louis’ older brother George was born in 2013. Because otherwise George would not have been a prince as the future heir to the throne, but only after his grandfather Charles (74) took office. Elizabeth II extended the change to all future children of William and Kate (41). Charlotte and Louis also received their titles at birth.

Are all three children participating in Trooping the Color?

By the way, the next time you will be able to see the royal offspring is probably on Saturday, June 17th. British media assume the children are taking part in Trooping the Color in London. It’s the first birthday parade for King Charles III.

The monarch and heir to the throne, William, will accompany the parade from Buckingham Palace to the parade ground on horseback. It will be the first time a British ruler has returned to Trooping the Color since 1986. The Queen has since refrained from doing so. Kate is expected to ride in a carriage with her children. After the parade, the royal family appears on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
