Prince Harry returns to London on the eve of the Queen’s first death anniversary to attend a charity event.

Prince Harry (38) returns to London on the day (September 7th) before the first anniversary of the death (September 8th) of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022). He is then expected on September 9th at the opening of the sixth Invictus Games (September 9th-16th) in Düsseldorf. Will Harry meet the British part of his family in the UK?

This is not known yet. The only thing that is certain is that the British royal, who emigrated to California with his wife and two children, will attend the annual awards ceremony of WellChild, a charity for seriously ill children, in London on September 7th.

Prince Harry presents an award

Harry will spend time with the awardees and their families at a pre-award reception, listening to their stories and helping create what the charity calls “lifelong memories.” The prince will then present the award for an inspirational child (4 to 6 years old) and give a speech.

As the “People” magazine further reports, Harry has been the patron of the organization for 15 years. It is one of the few jobs that King Charles III’s son did. (74) has kept from royal life after retiring as an agent on behalf of the crown in 2020.

Harry has already taken part in eleven of these charity awards – his wife, Duchess Meghan (42), was also there in 2018 and 2019. The couple also wanted to be part of the event last year. But the project was overshadowed by the death of the British Queen, Harry’s grandmother.

No family reunion planned

Meanwhile, British media are becoming clearer about a possible family reunion. Prince Harry does not plan to see King Charles or his brother, Prince William, 41, when he returns to Britain on the eve of the Queen’s first death anniversary, says “Mail Online”. The newspaper also reports, citing insiders, that Harry will not be accompanied by his wife Meghan this time either.

Contrary to last year’s worldwide mourning and state events, no public or private family gatherings are planned to mark the anniversary of the Queen, who passed away at the age of 96 during her traditional summer stay at Balmoral, Scotland.

Instead, it is expected that the King and Queen Camilla (76), who are currently on site anyway, will spend the day of remembrance in a private atmosphere. Prince Andrew (63) is also said to appear in the Scottish residence with his daughters.
