They have had a strained relationship for years. But isn’t that why Prince Andrew begrudges his brother Charles the crown?

He has always been considered the favorite son of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), but Prince Andrew (62) is said to have never gotten along well with his older brother Charles (73). Their strained relationship is said to have even led to Andrew wanting to prevent Charles from taking the throne. At least that’s what the royal expert Angela Levin writes, citing an insider, in her new biography “Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall: From Outcast to Queen Consort”, which will be published soon.

Prince Andrew lobbied “hard” hoping his brother wouldn’t receive the crown as “The Telegraph” previously quoted from the book. He is also said to have tried to persuade the Queen to prevent Charles and Camilla’s wedding. Andrew was “pretty toxic, unhelpful and very mean to Camilla.”

In addition, during Princess Diana’s lifetime (1961-1997), he apparently made plans with her and his then-wife Sarah Ferguson (62) to “push Prince Charles aside” so that Charles’ son Prince William (40) was king instead and Andrew acts as its regent. The Queen has therefore vehemently contradicted her son. For her, his behavior is said to have been “extremely uncomfortable” and “very, very negative”.

Prince Charles becomes King Charles III.

Either way: With the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8th at Balmoral Castle, her firstborn, Prince Charles, became the new king after her 70-year reign. Meanwhile, the first details about the coronation of King Charles III. known. Accordingly, he and the palace are planning a significantly reduced ceremony next spring.

Prince Andrew, on the other hand, was stripped of all royal patronage and military titles earlier this year. The measures were taken by the Queen after Andrew became involved in the abuse scandal involving convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein (1953-2019).
