Prince Andrew’s scandalous interview is now also the subject of a satirical TV musical. A film adaptation is also being planned.

In November 2019, Prince Andrew (62) sat in front of the camera with a BBC journalist to talk about the allegations against him in relation to the Epstein scandal in a special on “Newsnight”. A conversation full of embarrassment and entanglements followed, which left all viewers with their mouths open. The reputation of Queen Elizabeth II’s second son (96) was ruined once and for all. As a result, he resigned from his royal duties and offices.

The interview inspired comedian Kieran Hodgson’s team to create the satirical TV musical Prince Andrew: The Musical, part of Channel 4’s 40th anniversary series, Truth or Dare. , to be broadcast. As the “Associated Press” further reports, the interview, which is considered a PR disaster for the Duke of York, is to be “re-staged” in the musical. Critics had accused the prince, among other things, of showing no sympathy for the abuse victims of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein (1953-2019), who died in prison.

It is not yet known when exactly the show will be broadcast. The same applies to a film version of the interview that is also planned.

filming planned

As early as mid-July, the industry service “Deadline” reported that the events surrounding the interview were to be filmed. This film is said to be called “Scoop” and the planning is already well advanced. Filming is scheduled to start in November. The screenplay was penned by Peter Moffat (60), who has now confirmed the project together with producer Hilary Salmon.

According to “Deadline”, British actor Hugh Grant (61) is to slip into the role of Prince Andrew. However, those responsible have not yet confirmed these reports. The casting hasn’t started yet and a director hasn’t been chosen yet.

Earlier this year, Prince Andrew struck a multimillion-pound settlement with Virginia Giuffre, 39, who is suing him in the US for sexual assault at the age of 17, following the scandalous interview and his resignation as senior royal last year would have.
