Priest indicted for invasion of privacy

The Sauvé report on child crime in the Church frees the word. At the beginning of November, a priest from Lyon, from the parish of Blessed Antoine Chevrier, was the subject of a complaint lodged by an adult of the parish. Information from Progress was confirmed by the prosecution, which opened a judicial investigation on Friday. Heard by the investigators, he was placed under the status of assisted witness, less incriminating than the indictment, with regard to the accusations of sexual assault.

But he was also indicted for “invasion of privacy by fixing, recording or transmitting the image of a person of a sexual nature,” added the prosecution. The priest was placed under judicial supervision with a ban on going to churches in Lyon.

The Archbishop of Lyon, Mgr Olivier de Germay, has also announced “to suspend as a precaution all his missions during the investigation” the incriminated priest in a message to the faithful. He also assured that the diocese will work with the prosecution to shed light on this case, and expressed its compassion with the complainant.
