Anyone who has looked at their statements in the past few weeks will have thought to themselves: Wasn’t that even cheaper? In fact, everything seems to be getting more expensive these days. The Federal Statistical Office determined that the inflation rate was more than three percent last year. This is the highest value since 1993. From December 2020 to December 2021 it was even 5.3 percent. But what does this mean in concrete terms for consumer spending? the Southgerman newspaper has looked at everyday, regular expenses and calculated how much more a single household and a family of three have to spend on it every month.
