The current deputy Greens chairman Ricarda Lang wants to run for the party chairmanship at the federal party conference at the end of January. “We have made no less than to rebuild our society socially and ecologically – in the government and beyond,” said the 27-year-old via Twitter. “It would be a great honor for me to serve this great task,” she said. “That’s why I’m running for party chairman”.

Foreign politician Omid Nouripour had already announced his candidacy for the chairmanship of the Greens at the beginning of December. Election of the chairperson at the end of January
The Greens elect their new leadership at a virtual party conference on January 28th and 29th. Since the current chairmen Annalena Baerbock and Robert Habeck have been elected to the Bundestag and take over government offices, they have to give up their party offices according to the rules of the party statutes.
