How much vitamin B12 it’s enough?

According to the recommendation of the German Society for Nutrition, adolescents from the age of 15 and adults should take 4 µg of vitamin B12 eat. The value is slightly higher for pregnant women (4.5 µg) and breastfeeding women (5.5 µg).

People who eat only plant-based foods (vegans) cannot reach this value through their diet. They should therefore permanently take vitamin B12 supplement. According to the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, a maximum daily amount of 25 µg of vitamin B12 are not exceeded by dietary supplements to prevent a deficiency.

Taking drops can therefore be recommended when advising at the pharmacy. The liquid preparations such as B12-Drop Anchorman or B12-ASmedic drops contain 50 µg/ml cyanocobalamin and are easy to dose. Adults take 1 to 4 drops once a day.
