After his red card in Rennes on Sunday, Parisian central defender Presnel Kimpembe received a three-game suspension plus one suspended sentence after his exclusion in Rennes, the disciplinary committee announced on Tuesday. A sanction deemed “inconsistent” by Leonardo, the sports director of PSG.

The international saw red for a tackle on Jérémy Doku at the end of the Rennes-PSG match (1-1) on Sunday. He then “warmed up” with part of the Breton bench.

“They only judged the fault”, according to Leonardo

“I find it completely inconsistent that a game error is sanctioned in this way at the end of the championship, it is the biggest sanction for a game error this season”, regretted Leonardo.

“For the Lyon-Monaco fight, only one player took three games, and Kimpembe takes four games with the suspension, it’s completely inconsistent,” insisted the Brazilian. For these incidents between ASM and OL on the previous day, Monegasques Willem Geubbels and Pietro Pellegri received three and two suspension games respectively, and Lyon’s Maxence Caqueret and Mattia De Sciglio one game.

Kimpembe’s reaction to the red card did not make his case worse, according to Leonardo. “We broached all the subjects, but today in committee they judged only the fault”, assured the sporting director of the PSG.

Kimpembe to miss Coupe de France semi-final

Jérémy Doku “was not injured”, Kimpembe “has no intention of hurting,” Leonardo insisted. “He is late, it is an important fault, but that it is the biggest sanction of the season, it is disproportionate”.

“Presko” will miss the semi-final of the Coupe de France in Montpellier on Wednesday and the last two days of Ligue 1 against Reims and Brest. Unless they qualify for the Coupe de France final, which the defender would miss then, but in this case he would be requalified for Brest.
