Quitting time!

And with that, after this long Thursday, we are officially saying goodbye to our ticker and leaving the 2024 Formula 1 launches behind us.

The focus is now slowly turning to the Bahrain test, which is scheduled for next week. Of course we’ll be back tomorrow with a new ticker issue.

Have a nice evening, sleep well and see you then!

Perez: Can he challenge Verstappen in 2024?

Sergio Perez is still under pressure at Red Bull. In 2023, the Mexican was crowned runner-up behind Max Verstappen, but he was in the Dutchman’s shadow. That doesn’t change the fact that Perez is confident again for 2024.

“Yes, I feel safe, and of course, based on last year’s experiences, it is very important that we learn from our mistakes,” says the Red Bull driver. The Mexican even believes he can fight for the World Cup title this year.

“We haven’t started the year yet. And we all have the same chances, and the goal for all of us is to win the championship,” said Perez.

You can find his complete statements here!

A better look…

… this not-so-official picture shows the cooling inlets. But these photos should also be viewed with caution, because here too we can see the underbody, for example, which will certainly not be on the car in Bahrain.

9:28 p.m

What about the cooling inlets?

What is also interesting in all the pictures of the car is that the area of the air inlets on the side pods is not shown. This is either blacked out or, in this example, Sergio Perez “coincidentally” stands in front of it.

Or not by chance, because perhaps the greatest innovation on the RB20 is in this area. You can hear that the radiator inlet should run vertically. Unfortunately it can’t be seen in the photos…

9:21 p.m

Max Verstappen on Ferrari change

Sebastian Vettel already did it in 2015, and Lewis Hamilton is moving to Ferrari next year. Could Max Verstappen also imagine a move to the Italians?

“In my life, I know from my experiences so far that you should never say never. But for me it’s not even in my head now,” the Dutchman clarifies.

“I understand, it’s a beautiful brand that has achieved a lot in this sport. But at the moment my head is only with this team. That’s what I spend my time on. Everything else is secondary,” said Verstappen.

You can find his complete statements on the topic here!

9:13 p.m

As you can see, you see nothing …

Colleague Craig Scarborough is known on social media for his technical analysis. With the RB20, his first analysis today is very short because you can’t see much in the photos anyway.

His conclusion, which definitely corresponds to our impression: The renderings are almost completely “useless” from a technical point of view… We will only see the exciting details on the RB20 in Bahrain.

9:08 p.m

Launch report + photos

How great the interest in the RB20 is is shown by the fact that our server briefly collapsed 🙂 But now everything is running again! You can find our complete launch report here and more pictures here:

Quitting time!

The launch is over, but we still have a little more to do! Stay tuned for voices from Max Verstappen and Co. – and of course for more pictures.

8:57 p.m

Really the real car?

Is that really the RB20? Yes, but certainly not completely. For example, take a look at the simple subfloor. Red Bull certainly won’t drive like that in Bahrain, they definitely haven’t shown everything yet…

8:54 p.m

There he is!

Now we finally see the new car! We present the Red Bull RB20:

8:50 p.m

No car in sight yet

Now that we’ve finished looking back, we’ll now look to the future. The focus now is briefly on the “Red Bull Academy”, which supports young female racing drivers. The new Formula 1 car is not yet in sight…

8:39 p.m

More recaps

Another video follows with a look back at the 19 seasons so far. In addition to Christian Horner, who has been team boss since the first race, David Coulthard will also be welcomed on stage. The Scot was in the car for the first race in 2005.

8:33 p.m

A little journey through time

The launch begins with a brief look back at the team’s 20-year history. We see old cars, excerpts from old launches and a few other typical Red Bull impressions. Nicely done, and now the real launch begins.

8:09 p.m

Shakedown already completed

By the way: When it comes to the paintwork, you shouldn’t expect any big surprises with the RB20. Red Bull already has one in Silverstone completed a shakedown – and the design was very reminiscent of the RB19.

But let’s see, maybe there will be one or two surprises, at least technically…
