Manchester is blue – thanks to Haaland!
Manchester City beats Manchester United 3-0 in the top game of the Premier League. Former BVB star Erling Haaland (23) made the difference in the 191st derby between the two city rivals – with a brace and an assist.

With his goals No. 10 and 11, the attacker in Pep Guardiola’s team (52) underlines his class and is doing a lot of advertising for himself one day before the Ballon d’Or award ceremony. The most prestigious footballer’s award takes place on Monday evening in Paris.
The Haaland Show
20th minute: Manchester United is helping out a lot. Attacker Rasmus Højlund holds winger Rodri in his own penalty area with his left hand after a free kick. The Spaniard falls, complains. First the game continues – but then the VAR reports. The referee Paul Tierney looks at the scene and points to the spot.
Haaland prepares the ball and turns it very coolly into the right corner. The tenth goal of the season for the Norwegian. 1-0 for City (26th)!
49th minute: After a nice break, Bernardo Silva crosses from the left to the completely free-standing Norwegian. He hits the header to make it 2-0 for City.
The super striker missed the hat trick because goalkeeper Onana saved his header with a world-class save (45th + 3rd).
In the second half, Haaland becomes Mr. Assist…
Instead of scoring the hat trick, he serves his colleague Foden in the center and shows his ability to work in a team. The Englishman just has to push in. 3:0 (80th)!
Overall, the 191st meeting is (unfortunately) a good derby without much fire!
Derby without derby character
Coach Pep Guardiola (52) rotates properly, changing his team to six positions compared to the 3-1 win in Bern in the premier class. Gvardiol, Stones, Walker, Bernardo Silva, Alvarez and Foden slide into the starting eleven for Ake, Akanji, Lewis, Kovacic, Mathheus Nunes and Doku. United coach Erik ten Hag brings in Evans, Lindelöf and Eriksen.
Even without Haaland’s goals, City is clearly better and dominates the game, also because United didn’t put enough emphasis offensively in the first half.
▶ The derby is rather boring for a long time. Shortly before the break things got serious when Foden and Amrabat clashed heads (42′).
▶ In a cautious period of pressure, the Red Devils almost equalized. Rashford serves McTominay, who takes the shot. Ederson parries (44th).
▶ Out of nowhere, Rashford missed the goal in the second half with his shot from close range (69th).
Overall, there is far too little to see from United to start a comeback – that would have been undeserved.
In the end, City wins the derby clearly and without much tension 3-0.
After the win against Brighton, the Skyblues improved and jumped to third place with 24 points, while United remained in 8th place with 15 points.
