Almost a month after a robbery in the apartment of an 84-year-old, a suspect is in custody. The 52-year-old from the Bamberg district is suspected of having gained access to the senior citizen’s apartment in Zeil am Main (Haßberge district) in mid-September as a false police officer, the police said on Thursday. According to the police, the 84-year-old was supposed to show him her valuables. When he rummaged through it and the elderly woman realized the intention to cheat, he sprayed the woman with an irritating liquid and fled with the savings, it was said. In September, the police estimated it was 40,000 euros. In the meantime, the police had also searched for the man with photos that were supposed to show him near the elderly woman’s house. According to police, a judge confirmed the arrest warrant and the man was taken to a correctional facility.
