Power cuts and train lines in the region due to thunderstorms

According to information from theUnion, thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds caused damage, power cuts and train lines this Thursday evening in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes.

“The departments of Loire, Rhône and Ain were affected in the early afternoon and evening by thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds, causing damage to the electricity distribution network”, announced Enedis in a press release.

At 8 p.m., 50,000 customers were still without power, 15,000 in the Loire, 20,000 in the Rhône and 15,000 in the Ain.

In these same departments as well as in Saône-et-Loire, thunderstorms and the wind caused tree falls which disrupted train traffic.

Several dozen agents intervened to “clear the trains immobilized on these tracks” in order to “allow travelers to reach their destination”. Substitute coaches have been set up on several axes.
