Philippe Poutou is leaving for a presidential campaign. He will be the candidate of the New Anti-Capitalist Party (NPA) for the third time in a row. Saturday and Sunday gathered at a national conference 152 elected delegates of the party, who appointed Philippe Poutou and decided the first strategic orientations for the presidential election.
Five platforms were in competition, with very divergent texts, some arguing for a campaign without a candidacy, others for a candidacy of Olivier Besancenot, still others for the candidacy of Philippe Poutou, criticized by some for having made an alliance with France rebellious in Bordeaux and New Aquitaine.
“A society free from exploitation and oppressions”
“We are presenting the candidacy of Philippe Poutou because he embodies the need to confront this system, to organize to do so, and to defend the prospect of a society free from exploitation and oppression. This is what we want to help bring to the streets and to the polls, ”explains the NPA in the text adopted by the national conference, and sent to AFP.
The NPA declares that it will campaign for a minimum wage of 1,800 euros net, the nationalization of banks, free transport or even freedom of installation and movement for migrants. Philippe Poutou will hold a press conference at the national premises of the NPA in Montreuil on Wednesday at 4 p.m. In 2012, the candidate obtained 1.15% of the vote, and in 2017 1.09%.
