Postponement of inpatient admissions of planned interventions in the AKH due to the current corona situation – Celler Presse

Since the high infection rate of the Omikron variant does not stop at the AKH staff, the General Hospital (AKH) Celle is currently facing major personnel challenges. The situation is extremely tense, especially in the medical and nursing areas.

In order to be able to ensure high-quality medical care in emergencies and treatments that cannot be postponed, all inpatient admissions due to operations that can be planned, other interventions that can be planned and for diagnostics will be postponed – of course only if there are no medical reasons to the contrary. All available capacities on the wards and in the emergency room are needed in order to be able to treat relevant acute illnesses with the available staff.

“This measure is part of the comprehensive corona concept of the AKH in order to be able to react appropriately to such situations,” says AKH spokesman Christian Steins. “We ask for the understanding of all affected patients and any relatives. In this situation, all decision-makers are acting with the necessary sense of proportion and tact – patients whose treatment cannot be delayed will, of course, continue to receive medical care at the AKH.”

“Finally, we would like to call on everyone in the region to take the tried-and-tested protective measures against the corona infection very seriously again. In this way, everyone can make an active contribution to alleviating the burden on the health system in Celler Land.”
