Almost a year ago Elke Scherer fell ill with Covid-19, since then she has been constantly exhausted. The 46-year-old hopes that at some point she will be able to work again – and be there more for her children. About a fight back to life.
Almost a year after her Covid 19 illness, Elke Scherer says: “Old Elke is not coming back.” Scherer, 46, was seriously ill in February 2021. The coronavirus really caught her – with pain all over her body, fever, shortness of breath. She didn’t have to go to the hospital. But after the acute phase, Scherer did not get really well again – she suffers from post-Covid. When SZ spoke to her for the first time in July 2021, the mother of two children reported that she only had “five percent battery”. Since the beginning of December she has been working on her recovery in a psychosomatic rehabilitation clinic in Bad Reichenhall. After official recovery, she was constantly exhausted, with severe cognitive impairments. The trained masseuse is not yet able to work again, also because of persistent, severe pain in her hands.
