Hundreds of millions of people entrust their secrets to one man: Pawel Durow, inventor and head of the Telegram app, extremely rich, and a hero for many. Presumably well protected by encryption, people chat with each other on Telegram who do not want to be monitored by the state or hackers. They send pictures and videos and make phone calls. A wide variety of people use them, but Durow’s libertarian, i.e. anti-state, stance also attracts extremists, from the “Islamic State” to hardcore corona deniers and right-wing extremists.
