Porsche Taycan GTS in the test: high tension on the racetrack – Auto & Mobil

Lively acceleration, precise steering, decent range: battery drive is becoming the norm at Porsche. The first drive in the new Taycan GTS shows what that means.

Seven years – that’s how long it took Porsche to respond to Tesla’s Model S. When the Zuffenhausen-based company delivered the first Taycan in early 2020, the electric sports car was at least on par with the flat sedan from California. What no other premium manufacturer – whether German, American, Chinese or Japanese – had managed to do until then. A head start of seven years is half an eternity in this business, but Porsche was spot on: the new Stromer sold splendidly right from the start, and with around 30,000 units per year, the socket vacuum cleaner has now even left the iconic 911 sports car behind. The Taycan has also become a beacon of hope for successful change in the German automotive industry.
