It can still be a bit sharper. Anyone who thinks that Porsche has put a grandiose crown on the Cayman series with the magnificent GT4 is seriously mistaken. It can be even more intense: with the Cayman GT4 RS.

When 1,415 kilograms hit a boxer mid-engine engine with 368 kW / 500 hp, the pilots tear up tears of joy. If you don’t want to treat yourself to a Porsche 911 GT3, you can now dream of the Porsche Cayman GT4 RS. Because he only knows one currency: best times. It is almost unbelievable that the sharpened RS version takes a spectacular 23 seconds off the anything but tame Porsche Cayman GT4 on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring. His best time for the 20.4 kilometers in the green hell: 7: 04.511 minutes. The reason is first of all the six-cylinder boxer engine of the 911 GT3, which increases the output of the Cayman RS by 59 kW / 80 PS compared to the GT4. There is also a narrow torque estimate from 430 to 450 Nm. The seven-speed dual clutch transmission and performance like a racing car are standard. The 718 Cayman GT4 RS accelerates from zero to 100 km / h in 3.4 seconds, half a second faster than the GT4. Its propulsion ends at 315 km / h.

Compared to its GT4 brother, the RS has again slimmed down slightly – by 35 kilograms. With a full tank of fuel and without a driver, the two-seater weighs just 1,415 kilograms. The weight loss is achieved through the use of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic, which was built into the front hood and front fenders, for example. Lightweight carpets save weight, as does reducing the amount of insulating material. The rear window is made of lightweight glass. Lightweight door panels with textile opening loops and nets on the storage compartments ensure a further reduction in weight. Various modifications to the chassis also contribute to the improved performance and corresponding best times. Ball joints bind the chassis particularly tightly to the body and ensure even more precise and direct driving behavior. The adjustable chassis suitable for racetracks received an RS-specific damper setting as well as modified spring and stabilizer rates.

For race track fans, the optional Weissach package with front cover, process air inlets, cooling air inlet panels, airbox cover, exterior mirror upper shells and the rear wing in carbon fiber should be a temptation. The titanium tailpipes are optically based on the exhaust system of the Porsche 935. The screwed roll cage is also made of titanium. With the Weissach package, 20-inch forged magnesium wheels can be ordered instead of the standard forged aluminum wheels for a surcharge. The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is celebrating its world premiere today at the Los Angeles Auto Show and can now be ordered at a base price of 141,338 euros – deliveries will start as early as December. The GT4 RS is also available with the optional Weissach package. At the same time, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport racing variant is celebrating its premiere in Los Angeles and will be competing in various national and international racing series from 2022.
