The pop star and songwriter Roger Whittaker is dead. His record company Sony Music announced this to the dpa. Whittaker had recently been diagnosed with a stroke.
Whittaker was very successful internationally with his music. He sold 55 million records – mainly in the USA, Great Britain, South Africa and Germany. His most famous songs include “Albany” and “The Last Farewell”, which was also covered by Elvis Presley.
