Multi-talented Dua Lipa makes it clear: music is a priority

“Music will always be my first love”: Despite successful film and podcast projects, music remains the most important thing for Dua Lipa. Their third album is expected next year.

For pop star Dua Lipa (“Don’t Start Now”) it is Despite the British multi-talent’s numerous other projects, music will continue to be the most important thing in the future. “Music will always be my first love,” said the 28-year-old to the German Press Agency in London. “But I have so many interests outside of music that I always try to incorporate them into my work.”

Dua Lipa most recently played a role in the hit film “Barbie”, for which she also recorded a song. Next year she will appear in director Matthew Vaughn’s spy film “Argylle” alongside Henry Cavill and Sam Rockwell. The singer also launched an online platform called Service95 “to share my love of reading.” Service95 includes a podcast with her, interviews with authors and an online book club.

Dua Lipa is currently making headlines again with her music. Their third album is expected next year. She just released a single. Despite her pop star fame, the Brit says she tries to keep her life as normal as possible. “I feel very lucky that my life at home with friends and family is pretty normal,” said the singer. “I’m grateful to have this kind of stability in my life.”

The title of her current single, “Houdini”, which is reminiscent of the magician and escape artist Harry Houdini (1874-1926), refers to disappearing unnoticed. In fact, such a thing is not her style at all, assures Dua Lipa. “I never leave a party without my friends,” she emphasizes. Rather, the song is about “recognizing your own worth in a situation or in a relationship, being confident and knowing when it’s time to go.”
