Crossing borders runs through Laetitia Sadier’s life. In her new album “Rooting For Love” she sings beguilingly about the world revolution and yet her songs are meditative. How does she manage this?
The profile under her Instagram account only contains three words, translated: “vagrant musician humanoid”. In a photo just below, she is standing in front of Karl Marx’s grave in London with her left fist raised. Their music lies somewhere between bubblegum pop, krautrock, chanson, electro, bossa nova, avant-garde and easy listening. Everything is connected by her beguiling singing, sometimes in English, sometimes in French. And if her songs are sometimes a bit dark, she says, it’s so she can see the stars better.
