At the end of August, a pony was abused in a pasture in Lower Saxony. The police arrested a suspect – the man was already wanted for other offenses and had to go to prison immediately.

The case not only shocked animal lovers: after a horse abuse in the Lower Saxony municipality of Seevetal (Harburg district), about 25 kilometers from Hamburg, the police arrested a suspect. According to the authorities, it is a 27-year-old man from the neighboring town of Stelle.

Based on images from the surveillance camera that filmed the crime at the end of August, it was possible to clearly identify the man. When the officials checked his personal details, it also came out that there were two arrest warrants against him in Saxony-Anhalt for other offenses. The suspect was therefore immediately taken into police custody and is already in custody, the police said police with.

The man is said to have passed on an 18-year-old large pony that was standing in a pasture more than a week ago at night. According to the owner, he used a log and a wheelbarrow to do this. A surveillance camera recorded the crime. The suspect has now been identified from the images.

“I’m incredibly relieved. Finally, our nightly patrols are over,” the horse owner commented on the arrest to the “Hamburger Abendblatt”. The further investigations into the violation of the Animal Welfare Act are the responsibility of the veterinary office of the district of Harburg. The suspect now faces a fine.
