Everyone should eat what they want: When Hubert Aiwanger, of all people, makes such a self-evident statement, then it is already a signal for political relaxation. The head of the Free Voters has at least rhetorically disarmed the political Ash Wednesday in Lower Bavaria. Apparently he was responding to the demands of the party base, which sees itself in the center – and not on the right-wing fringe. Aiwanger seems to have understood this. Last year he raved about idiots, insect eaters and grebes, but this time he completely refrained from insulting the traffic light government and making anti-democratic digressions. Instead, he even formulated his demands to Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck explicitly as a request.
