It didn’t take long for the PiS politicians in Poland to find a new television station that reported in their interests. The private channel TV Republika took over the presenters and style from the state broadcaster TVP Info – as it was during the time of the right-wing nationalist PiS government. The new government under Prime Minister Donald Tusk is described on TV Republika only as “Tusk’s clique”, which is acting “completely unlawfully”. Tusk is assumed to be close to Russia and dependent on Germany. Anyone who strives to legislate in accordance with European law is, in this reading, a “Eurocrat”. TV Republika describes itself as a “house of free speech”.
