Policewoman secretly writes letters to the Halle assassin – politics

According to research by the Ministry of the Interior in Saxony-Anhalt Süddeutscher Zeitung, NDR and WDR a young police commissioner from the Dessau police station suspended from duty. The accusation: The officer is said to have secretly developed a pen friendship with the most famous prisoner in the state, the right-wing extremist Stephan B., who carried out an attack on the synagogue in Halle two years ago. Also the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung reported the case.

In more than ten letters that the officer wrote over the course of several months, she is said to have expressed her understanding for the crime. Professionally, the officer should not have been specifically entrusted with investigations into terrorism or other hate crimes, nor with the protection of Jewish institutions. The fact that she had great sympathy for the right-wing terrorist Stephan B. should have gone unnoticed by her colleagues for a long time.

It was only in the summer that colleagues noticed that they were speaking positively about the assassin. She is said to have put his act into perspective. The officers reported the case to their superiors, so the officer was confronted. As a result, it emerged how long she had been in contact with Stephan B. The letters were found during a check of his cell in the correctional facility.

The police superintendent is said to have given a false name and address for her pen friendship with the assassin, which is why it was not immediately clear during the post control in the correctional facility in which Stephan B. is incarcerated that it was a police officer. The right-wing terrorist is said to have received letters from several people, which are now also being checked.

The news was shocking, said the chairman of the Jewish community in Halle, Max Privorozki, on request. “Despite this insane case, I have confidence in the police. Unfortunately, there seem to be such lunatics everywhere.” The Ministry of the Interior of Saxony-Anhalt did not want to comment on request.
