Police officer from Traunstein convicted of obstruction of punishment – Bavaria

The Bavarian Supreme Court has issued a judgment by the Traunstein Regional Court against a criminal police officer for obstruction of punishment in office. According to the responsible public prosecutor’s office, the court rejected the official’s appeal, whom the regional court had sentenced to ten months probation in the spring for covering a Rosenheim police officer as the author of a seditious chat message. The reason for 2018 were entries in a chat group of several police officers in which Muslims had been badly insulted. The investigating officer from the state security department of the Traunsteiner Kripo had, against better knowledge, not named the colleague from Rosenheim as the originator of the chat message. With the ruling of the Supreme Regional Court, the decision of the Regional Court is final. The decision on outstanding disciplinary consequences such as dismissal from civil servant status and the loss of pension entitlements now lies with the Munich Police Headquarters.
