A rule of thumb in journalism is: “If a dog bites a man, it’s not news, because that happens very often”. But if a man bites a dog, that’s definitely worth reporting – as a recent case from Ginsheim-Gustavsburg shows.

In a dispute with the police, a young man in southern Hesse is said to have bitten a police dog. In addition, the police officers were injured, as the investigators announced on Friday. The 29-year-old had reportedly had a drunken argument with a peer and a 35-year-old on a street in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg when a police patrol came and checked the trio.

Police file criminal charges against Trio

According to investigators, the woman hit a police officer in the face during the incident on Friday night. Another officer was injured in the hand. One of the men could only be overpowered and arrested “using massive physical force,” it said. In the scramble, the 29-year-old bit the German shepherd Drago. “The four-legged friend survived the attack unscathed,” it said. The police officers could have continued their service afterwards.

The three were arrested, according to the statement, and sobered up in custody for the rest of the night. Blood was taken from you to check. Among other things, the police filed criminal charges for assault and resistance against law enforcement officials.
