The custody of the “king of beauty” and figure of organized crime Antonio Ferrara was lifted late Thursday afternoon, and investigations into concealment of vehicle theft are continuing, indicated the Créteil public prosecutor’s office. .
The former robber was arrested Thursday morning during a “random road check” and was placed in police custody in Val-de-Marne for not having returned a rental vehicle, the prosecution said. The investigation is continuing “to clarify the conditions of detention of the rental vehicle,” added the public prosecutor.
Convicted of robberies and attempted murder
Nicknamed the “king of beauty” for having escaped from prison twice, Antonio Ferrara was released in July 2022 from Réau prison (Seine-et-Marne) after having finished serving his sentence.
Born October 12, 1973 in the south of Italy, settled with his family in Choisy-le-Roi (Val-de-Marne), Antonio Ferrara was convicted of robberies and attempted murder, as well as for his two escapes. On the other hand, he was acquitted in three cases of robbery of armored vans in 2009 and of a post office in 2012.
Two escapes
Antonio Ferrara first escaped from Fleury-Mérogis prison (Essonne) in 1998 during a transfer to hospital, then enjoying a long run until 2002.
On March 12, 2003, he escaped from Fresnes prison (Val-de-Marne) with the help of accomplices disguised as police officers, who attacked the establishment with a rocket launcher. It will be resumed four months later.
