Four men are said to have stolen bicycles worth around half a million euros and then sold them in Moldova. Now they have been arrested.

A quartet is in custody for thefts of bicycles worth at least 500,000 euros from shops across Germany. The four men were arrested in Marseille, France, in Dieburg and Dreieich (both Hesse) and in Hahnheim (Rhineland-Palatinate), said the Police with. The men, aged between 29 and 31, are now in custody.

As part of a gang, they are said to have stolen bicycles from several shops since June 2021 and mainly smuggled them to Moldova and sold them there. In one break-in in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm in Upper Bavaria alone, bikes worth more than 100,000 euros were stolen. The police estimated the total damage to the buildings from the break-ins at around 500,000 euros. The investigation continued on Wednesday.
