Police are looking for information about Messer – Bavaria

In the case of the baker’s apprentice Klaus Berninger from Lower Franconia, who was killed in 1990, the police are still asking for information about a knife. It was a black switchblade with a blade about eight centimeters long and the inscription “Super-Automatic,” the police said on Friday. When extended it is 20 centimeters long.

The knife is said to have belonged to Berninger, but has not yet been found after his death. People who saw or found such a knife after December 20, 1990 should report to the police.

In June, the police asked the general public for information via the ZDF program “Aktenzeichen XY… Unsolved”. This gave her, among other things, a mail-order catalog showing the knife she was looking for. According to police, it cannot be ruled out that the knife was used in the crime.

The then 16-year-old Berninger disappeared on December 20, 1990 after attending a youth club in his hometown of Wörth am Main (Miltenberg district). Three days later, two riders found his body in a forest near the small town on the Bavarian-Hesse state border. The police began intensive investigations into the so-called cold case a little over a year ago.
