Pocket Pair: Palworld gets PvP mode and crossplay

The Japanese development studio Pocket Pair has just released Palworld, its first global blockbuster in early access. Now the team is making relatively concrete statements about further plans for this “Pokémon with machine guns”: On the Platform X now has a roadmap for the upcoming bug fixes and enhancements.

Among other things, further improvements to the AI of the Pals – i.e. the cuddly creatures – in the game are promised, as well as optimized pathfinding. This involves problems with getting stuck on rocks or the camp boundary, which Golem.de also noticed when playing.

There should also be real innovations: A player-versus-player mode (PvP) is planned in which players can compete against each other. The developers don’t say exactly how this works.

In Palworld in particular, the implementation is unlikely to be possible: after all, there is a risk that the participants will simply send armies as large as possible with their creatures against each other.

Regardless of this, a PvP arena with PvP for Pals has now been announced, which sounds like fights only between the monsters – i.e. without a human-controlled figure on the battlefield.

Also announced are raid bosses as end-game content, as well as crossplay between the PC and Xbox versions. There should be the possibility of server transfers, improvements to the building system and more “Islands, Pals, bosses and technologies”.
