Playtime and Achievements: Steam provides a personal annual review

Valve provides users of its PC gaming platform Steam with a personal annual review. The data, which is primarily presented in diagrams, shows, among other things, which games were played when and for how long.

To do this, Valve evaluates the data accumulated in the account from January 1 to December 14, 2022 inclusive. Playing time accumulated in Steam offline mode is not included in the statistics. Titles played through other stores and platforms are also missing.

From the Steam Recap shows, among other things, how many games were played in total – and for how long. The statistics also show the number of sessions, i.e. how often a game was started. A bar chart also shows the playing time spread over the months. Achievements won are also taken into account in the Steam annual review.

In addition, there are other interesting insights into your own gaming behavior. An evaluation shows, for example, how much of the game was played with a mouse and keyboard or with a gamepad. Valve also displays the longest “streak” – how many days of daily play on Steam.

The annual review also shows at a glance whether you preferred older or current titles in 2022. If you play on more than one device via Steam, you will also see the distribution. This is particularly exciting for users who own a Steam Deck. Finally, Valve shows a timeline on which each title played is prescribed individually over the course of the year.

If desired, Steam’s personal annual review can be shared with other people. Valve provides a share button at the bottom of the website. In addition, you can decide whether everyone or only people who are friends on Steam can see the data.
